Apart from being saddled with huge debts, another concern that many fans have with these foreign takeovers is the danger of their club losing its identity.

With financial concerns over the banking industry spreading worldwide, it remains to be seen whether the growth that premiership football has enjoyed in recent years can be sustained over the long term. There are plenty of cash rich billionaires from overseas willing to buy a leading premiership team. Hence, the prospect of more foreign investment in premiership football clubs is unlikely to go away.
