Messi doesn't deserve to win World Player of the Year award, claims Ibrahimovic

Lionel Messi does not deserve to win the next FIFA Ballon d'Or as he has only won one minor trophy this year, according to former Barcelona team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swede had one indifferent year playing alongside Messi in La Liga before returning to Milan where he won the Serie A title.

Ibrahimovic, now at Paris St Germain, hailed Messi's personal achievements - he scored 68 goals in all competitions - but insisted the fact he only won the Copa del Rey should be taken into account.
'Messi had a fantastic season but he has not won that much and he has already won the Ballon d'Or three times,' the striker said. 'It depends whether you reward an individual or a collective work.

The Ballon d'Or, which was merged with the World Player of the Year award in 2010, will be awarded on January 7, 2013.
