Van Persie would like to move to Old Trafford to add some more trophies to his sparse collection - his last trophy was the FA Cup in 2005 - but wants to match Rooney's wages, according to the Sunday Express.
Demands: Robin van Persie wants big money for his big move
Arsene Wenger wants £30million for the
28-year-old but neither United or Juventus or Manchester City, the
other sides in for him, are willing to pay that much because he will
soon be 29 and his contract expires at the end of the season.
Roque Santa Cruz and Emmanuel Adebayor are not needed while both Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez have been rumoured as possible players who could make way for Van Persie.
Aim: Van Persie wants to be level with Wayne Rooney
Wenger expects the club to pick up Malaga's creative midfielder for around £15m by Tuesday night.
The 27-year-old is highly rated across Europe and his signing is somewhat of a coup.
Along with Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, he will go some way to replacing the hole left by Van Persie, should he get his wish.
