Championship to their world champions status last month but Spain have
failed to secure a unique third football title at London 2012 after they
crashed out of the Olympics.After
Jerry Bengtson had headed unfancied Honduras into a seventh-minute
lead, Luis Milla’s Spain side, which included Euro 2012 winners Jordi
Alba and Chelsea’s Juan Mata, created countless chances.
Mata had three first-half

competition after being surprisingly beaten by Japan in their opening
game.
But it wasn’t was all Spain. The impressive Roger Espinoza, who created the winning goal, also hit the post in the second half.
Spain lost their discipline throughout
as Honduras continued to frustrate them. Cristian Tello and Diego
Marino were both shown yellow cards.
Meanwhile, the Japanese clinched quarter-final qualification with a 1-0 victory over Morocco.
No dice: Adrian Lopez goes down in the box
Early return: Chelsea will get Juan Mata back sooner than they thought
