Ferguson tells United to make European statement after Champions League flop

Sir Alex Ferguson insists Manchester United won't flop in the Champions League again this season.
The Old Trafford club were eliminated before the knockout stages last term costing them in excess of £13million.

But Ferguson believes his side will return to the competition with a bang this year.
'It's fair to say we threw that one away,' said Ferguson. 'That won't happen again next season.

'We'll qualify from the group stages. I'll make sure of it. European football is hugely important to us and we must compete for the biggest trophies.
'We need to make a statement - and show everybody last season was just a blip.'
