Up for grabs: Ricardo Carvalho was left out of Madrid's US tour

Spurs boss Andre Villas Boas could now be encouraged to rekindle his interest in the centre-half to vill the void of experience left by Ledley King, who will act as a club ambassador next season following his retirement.
Villas Boas already has five central defenders in Jan Vertonghen, Steven Caulker, Younes Kaboul and Michael Dawson to choose from but Frenchman William Gallas expected to leave ahead of the new season.
